Commercial

The Hayden team provides structural and civil engineering services for new construction and remodels/tenant improvements for all types of commercial buildings including warehouses, retail or office buildings, multi-family residential buildings and hotels, and educational facilities. Hayden Engineers also provide commercial observations for buyers or sellers of buildings, or to assess property damage.

Structural engineering for seismic upgrading or retrofitting older structures to meet current code requirements are also available at Hayden. The Hayden team has retrofitted many different structural systems, including unreinforced masonry buildings, concrete buildings, and wood-framed structures.

Residential

The Hayden team provides structural engineering, plan design, and drafting services for all shapes and sizes of residential buildings, including new construction, remodels and additions. Hayden Engineers also provide residential observations as representatives for clients buying or selling traditional or manufactured homes, and for property damage assessment.

Structural Condition Assessment

The Hayden team can assist with responding to building or home inspection concerns and review of structures for buyers or sellers of homes and buildings. If you are contemplating a seismic upgrade, Hayden engineers can also provide seismic evaluation and retrofit assessment of existing buildings according to the ACSE 41-13 guidelines.
Light Gauge Steel and Ceiling Design

Hayden Consulting Engineers provide structural engineering and drafting services for small and large projects for all light gauge metal stud and ceiling framing needs. These services include load bearing metal stud framing, exterior & interior non-load bearing framing, interior acoustical ceiling tile, wood panels, gypsum board, exterior, and clouds/free floating ceilings.

Seismic Evaluation and Upgrades

Hayden Consulting Engineers provide observations to assess the seismic vulnerability of both residential and commercial structures, as well as recommendations for upgrades.

Whether you are voluntarily upgrading your house for peace of mind, or you have a commercial property that needs to be evaluated per ASCE41-13, or brought to current seismic code, Hayden Engineers can provide a structural assessment and upgrade design to make your building safer during an earthquake.

Fire Escape Inspections and Testing Protocol

Hayden Engineers provide structural assessments and observations of fire escapes to satisfy the City of Portland. Portland alone has hundreds of fire escapes that are attached the exterior of older buildings. Many of these fire escapes have been left unchecked over the years, and now may be unsafe for occupants and firefighters to use during an emergency, as well as become a liability for property owners.

City of Portland has worked for years on the forefront of addressing the need to certify a standard of safety for occupants and fire crews across the hundreds of fire escapes in the city. More recently, state and local jurisdictions across Oregon and Washington have begun to adopt similar provisions in their local fire codes to address the same need.

The Hayden team has worked with Portland Bureau of Development Services, property owners, contractors, and testing agencies on a number of projects around the city that have been re-certified under Portland Administrative Rule ARB-FIR-2.08.

Hayden Engineers understand that time is of the essence and that fines from the Portland Fire and Rescue could be assessed if the fire escape certification is not completed in a timely fashion. We are able to quickly make the structural assessment so that the testing and repairs can be done.

With Hayden Consulting Engineers’ services, you will receive:

2. Repair recommendations prior to testing (if required)
3. Limited observation / on-site consultation with testing contractors during testing
4. Repair recommendations during/after testing (if required)
5. Affidavit on completion that the fire escape meets the City of Portland requirements for certification
